What is your take on the interracial genre overall?

 

It’s really been evolving these past few years. Nowadays, there’s a lot more “pretty IR porn” – shot with blown out lighting and with slower, more sensual sex. I absolutely love this new trend. I’ve never been a fan of IR films involving cuckolds or scenes where racial slurs are used.  I don’t like pornography that is presented in this fashion – even though I do understand, some people might get off to it. It’s great to see more studios branching out and embracing this new trend. 

 

Given your tenure in the business and success in other genres, what possessed you to do an interracial title?

 

I’ve been wanting to do one for quite a while! IR sex is not just aesthetically so beautiful to me, but IR fantasies are something I find incredibly sexy and have wanted to explore for a long time. 

 

The talent you cast.  For each member can you tell us what was the driving factor(s) in their selection?

 

Cindy Starfall – She’d been on my list of people to work with for a while. She has a great attitude and was very similar to the character I’d written for her in the piece. 

 

Dahlia Sky – Dahlia is someone I work with a lot and is also a size queen in real life, so naturally pairing her with Shane was the obvious choice.

 

Nadia Styles – She was another performer that I hadn’t had the opportunity to work with and who I’d always heard such incredible things about.  I loved her look and she gave a fantastic read.

 

Riley Reid – Who doesn’t want to cast Riley Reid? With one of the best attitudes in the business and a love of performing in a variety of roles and scenes, I cast her because I wanted to spend a few hours on set with her and be in the company of a sweet person. 

 

Jon Jon – I’d worked with Jon Jon in a scene called How to Train A Hot Wife and he was incredible. It was one of the more uncomfortable scenes (a bar setting) in the movie and he was a champ. He brings a lot of passion and energy behind his sex scenes and he’s an all-around great performer.

 

Shane Diesel – Shane was a friend of mine for a long time before I got to work with him. For me, getting to work with someone as legendary as him was a dream come true. Shane’s a master at both dialogue and sensuality. He also really “gets” the genre of hot wifing. 

 

Isiah Maxwell – Selfishly, Isiah is one of the most attractive men in the adult industry. So, for me…it was eye candy! He’s also one of the most easy performers to get along with and the nicest. Isiah was bit of a risk casting in that I’d never seen him work before, but he more than proved his acting chops and his skill.

 

Sean Michaels – Sean is a strong actor and it helps that he’s easy on the eyes. He’s invested in the story and, like me, values pornography that takes a positive approach to its storytelling. He was a no-brainer. 

 

The vignettes sound very intriguing.  Are they fictional or is it a classic case of art imitating life?

 

Fictional. I don’t have a lot of sexual experiences in my personal repertoire, so I talk to people about their fantasies and desires. 

 

Sexy and passionate were words I heard used to describe this title.  How important were portrayal and theme to you?

 

Extremely important. Why watch sex that is anything but sexy and passionate? I cast performers that enjoy sex, that know how to have sensual, passionate, connected sex, and that I felt were able to best bring the characters to life.

 

In the vast sea of interracial titles, what makes My Hotwife’s First Interracial stand out?

 

It’s alluring, it’s passionate, it’s connected, and there’s purpose to it. 
It’s about four married women exploring the mystique of sex with someone outside of both their marriage and outside of their race. I didn’t focus entirely on the IR aspect, because there’s so much more to people’s desires than simply race. This film is about what brings two people together and what makes their affair so unique.  

 

Do you expect to do more interracial titles in the future?

 

Absolutely! It’s all about need at my company! If we need more Jacky St. James directed titles in the IR genre, I’ll happily oblige! This was one movie I’m very proud of.

CB: Chanel Preston.  How are you lady?

Chanel Preston:  I’m fine thank you.

CB: What are your thoughts on the term and characterization of the term interracial as it relates to porn?

Chanel Preston:  I don’t feel like everyone uses the term interracial in the same way. I do feel that some, and hopefully most, use the term primarily for marketing purposes as that is a popular niche that has been created over time. However, that is not to say that there isn’t some level of racism in the industry as it relates to the term.

CB: So you would say it is more marketing than racism?

Chanel Preston:  I think it’s more marketing. However, I think there is another overt racism issue as it relates to pay for performers. I’ve spoken to a few performers who felt that the pay was not the same. A girl has told me that, “if I wasn’t black I feel that I would be getting paid more to do these scenes.” I had to agree with her.

CB: In fairness the latter part of your statement is not solely a porn issue.  That’s a mainstream Hollywood issue and overall job market issue as a whole (laughs hysterically). However, that gets me to thinking about another question. How do you feel about performers charging more for scenes with black male performers?

Chanel Preston:  I personally do not agree with that and just feel that it’s not right. I would not feel comfortable ever charging more to work with a black male performer. Some may say that it’s a “specialty niche” and I charge more for that niche. However, me personally that’s just something that I won’t do.

CB: You were in the porn industry a number of years prior to performing in your first interracial scene. Was that your choice? Were you not interested? Looking for the right opportunity?

Chanel Preston:  When I got in, and I feel like this happens to a lot of performers, I was given this “criteria” on how one should run their career. First there’s girl girl, then boy girl, then anal, then interracial and then any gang bangs or other types of fetishes. I followed this cliché that I was given. Now I had been in the business for about two years and honestly I really did wait that long to do interracial because I had done anal very early in my career. I was holding out for a Chanel Preston showcase movie (which never happened by the way… laughs) and I wanted to offer the movie something that I had not done before. For showcase movies the company always likes to put “her first something” on the box cover and I was afraid that if I didn’t have any firsts left that I wouldn’t get picked. It just so happened that “interracial” was the only first that I had left. That’s why I waited as long as I did because if not for that it would have been much sooner if not at the very beginning.

CB: Your first interracial scene; who was it for and who was it with?

Chanel Preston:  My first Chanel Preston interracial scene was for Adam and Eve in The Secretary 3 I think was the title with Prince Yahshua.

CB: Assuming you chose, why did you choose that project and Prince?

Chanel Preston:  I didn’t really know many black performers at the time (laughs). But I chose Prince Yahshua because he was one of the most popular performers and I knew him and had been around him. It was the obvious choice. As far as the company, the movie was a remake and in the original the girl had done her first interracial so Adam and Eve wanted someone for the remake who also would be doing their first interracial.

CB: And the overall experience was?

Chanel Preston:  Prince Yahshua is good-looking and I knew I would enjoy myself.  It was a feature so the sex was sort of choreographed but overall it was great and I really enjoyed it.

 CB: Had you had sex with a black man prior to entering the porn business?

Chanel Preston:  Yes.

CB: What was your best or most memorable interracial scene?

Chanel Preston:  I liked my scene with Mandingo in Mandingo Massacre 8 for Jules Jordan video.  I’m wearing a French maid outfit.  I see those photos circulate all the time and I’m just like “that was such a fun scene”. CB: Are there any upcoming interracial projects that you can share with us?

Chanel Preston:  I shot a scene for Blacked.com with Jovan Jordan. I also recently directed my second movie; Smoke for James Deen Productions.  I shot a scene with Dana DeArmond and Isiah Maxwell that was so much fun. That interracial threesome is going to be really good. Cinematically it’s just very appealing. We’re all in private school wearing private school outfits. CB: If there was one myth that you could debunk about interracial porn what would it be?

Chanel Preston:  It’s not all entirely about the taboo aspect of having sex with a black man or black woman. I think some of it is shot genuinely to appeal to the visual aspect of it as far as how aesthetically pleasing it is. I actually have an ex-boyfriend who was Hawaiian that loved interracial porn. CB: What was it about that project in particular that made you choose that to be your first?

Aaliyah: LOL! Oh yes I had a lot of offers before this one but I wanted every interracial scene, especially my very first, to be just right. My biggest issue with interracial porn, and many performers share my sentiment, is the way it’s portrayed. Not throughout the industry, but what I believe to be “the majority” is something I don’t agree with. Ya know the whole “big scary black man taking advantage of an unsuspecting white woman” I just don’t agree with that. I just wanted it to be two beautiful people making love. CB: Did you choose Prince Yahshua? If so, why?

Aaliyah: I had known Prince for years and we have been flirting for years. It just seemed like the natural and right choice. I think I chose correctly because the scene came out great.

Only to be given a jersey and a gold chain by the producer and told to talk with the ghetto accent. Just because you see it on camera does not mean that is who that person is a real life. Porn performers are just that, “performers”.  I know this is a fantasy for some, but I think there are many fantasies that involve black men. I am just glad that the industry is turning somewhat to depict black men as the intelligent, strong, sexual beings that they are instead of the derogatory stereotype that racist white people think black people are which is ridiculous.

KK :  I was living in Arizona at the time working and going to school.  I was always fascinated by the industry.  I always enjoyed watching porn from a young age.  It was always a fantasy of mine.  I woke up one day and decided I wanted to be in a porn movie.  I networked and made the necessary connections with people in the industry.  I took a trip to California and the rest is history.

 

CB : Wow.  So what was your favorite porn to watch before you got in the industry?

 

KK :  I was a big fan of Hungarian porn star Aletta Ocean.  She was one of my favorite performers because she was able to perform very sexy solo scenes.  People don’t realize that’s a very hard thing to do as a female performer.

 

CB : What was your first interracial scene?

KK :  There are a few different stereotypes surrounding interracial porn.  One of the stereotypes is that black men’s dicks are extremely large.  This is true I believe with most porn stars.  I have met porn stars of all different ethnicities that have large to medium sized cocks.  Another stereotype I come across often is that if you do interracial you will have fewer fans or be booked less.  For me personally, this is something I didn’t find to be true or care about for that matter.  I’m not willing to change my personal beliefs or morals for money.  What I mean by that is I’m not going to stop having sex with someone because of their race due to a “third party”.  I believe doing interracial actually gave me more fans because the black community, as well as other races, definitely picked up on me after I did so.  I feel if I didn’t do IR that I wouldn’t have as many fans as I do, especially black fans. I want to be a porn star that everyone can relate to.
